Typical Sunday, Really
“Is this still available please?” he asked.
“Yes it is,” I said.
“I can collect in the morning if you want to leave it in the foyer,” he said.
True to his word, he collects. We never meet.
A pang of guilt flows through me as I think about those grains of sand still lurking in the snorkelling gear.
But it was free, I think to myself.
Still, I like even the smallest interaction I have with the world to be a good one if I can make it so. I don't like the attitude of, It was free, so be grateful.
I can hear my daughter's voice in my head… You're always so friendly. And pretty intense.
Sod it, I think. I'm going to message anyway.
“Hope you get lots of use out of the snorkelling gear. I had every intention of cleaning it up before you collected it, but I'm afraid the 'his' half came with slightly too many memories attached and I just couldn't bring myself to give it that level of loving attention.”
“Appreciate them very much as we're off on holiday to Egypt soon.”
“OMG the snorkelling gear knows Egypt very well. Have a brilliant time.”
Leave every place better than you find it. Even if that is a virtual place. Even if you never actually meet the person. I try to live by that.
Sunday was spent watching Shea McGee on YouTube with her latest interior design project (honestly, it's like crack cocaine for me and definitely an alternate career I would have loved), followed by watching an interview with a sociopath who works as a psychotherapist, talking about how she stabbed another girl with a pencil when she was five.
All whilst doing a castor oil liver pack.
Standard Sunday really, encompassing all my obsessions.
And I've been pondering ever since.
Observing how I show up in the world and wondering:
Is the way many ADHD brains move through the world almost the antithesis of narcissism?
I'm not entirely sure where I'm going with this one yet. But I'm intrigued. Tempted to join me in my musings? Click reply and share your thoughts.
